Below we take a look at some of the research studies done on these ingredients, and their results when it comes to weight loss.


Forskolin has been used in weight loss trials and shown positive health effects (source). Rats given a high fat diet with forskolin gained significantly less weight and fat than rats given a high fat diet without forskolin (source).

In overweight women, a forskolin supplement prevented weight gain and reduced hunger (source).

In another study on rats, they were given a very unhealthy “cafeteria diet” which made them obese. However, when given an supplement with forskolin alongside the cafeteria diet, their food intake and weight gain were significantly halted (source).

Garcinia cambogia

Garcinia Cambogia is an Indian fruit which contains hydroxycitric acid (HCA) which is a well known weight loss compound. A systematic review and meta-analysis published in the Journal of Obesity looked at 9 randomized controlled trials that tested Garcinia extract/hydroxycitric acid versus placebo in humans, and found that Garcinia/HCA significantly reduces body weight compared to placebo (source). Double-blind randomized controlled trials are considered the highest level of evidence there is when evaluating things like supplements, and a meta-analysis that looks at several randomized controlled trials at once adds even more weight to the conclusion. In this case, again, the conclusion is clear: Garcinia is effective for weight loss.


L-carnitine is an amino acid, i.e. a naturally occurring protein found in small amounts in many foods, which has been extensively studied for weight loss.

A recent systematic review and meta-analysis looked at nine studies with a total of 911 participants and found that individuals who received L-carnitine lost significantly more weight compared to those who didn’t (source).

A 12-week study on women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) found that taking carnitine supplements reduced body weight, blood sugar and insulin resistance compared to placebo (source).


Ginseng is not a well-known weight loss herb. However, it has many other beneficial effects.

For example, one study found that it improved memory, attention and alertness, in the short term (source). Another found that ginseng can reduce symptoms of menopause and some risk factors for heart disease in women (source). A meta-analysis also showed that ginseng can reduce blood sugar in people with and without diabetes (source). In patients with type 2 diabetes or pre-diabetes, ginseng has been shown to improve blood sugar control and insulin sensitivity (source). Even though only a few studies have investigated the effect of ginseng on fatigue, the evidence supports that ginseng reduces fatigue (source). Men may be interested to learn that ginseng can improve erectile dysfunction (source). A 2017 meta-analysis also found evidence for a blood pressure reducing effect of ginseng in people with high blood pressure (source).

All in all, ginseng seems like a good herb to add to maintain good health.


As we can see, most of the active ingredients have been extensively studied when it comes to weight loss, and the evidence indicates that the ingredients in Rapid Tone are useful if you want to lose weight. Just remember that there are no miracle supplements when it comes to losing weight, and you should also try to eat a healthy diet and perform some physical activity if you want optimal results.


Some weight loss supplements are very one-dimensional because they only include one active ingredient.
